Meticulous, well organized, and always planning things out. That was Chace. He had almost everything figured out and was secure. That might have been what attracted Hayley to a very secure and seemingly kind man. Of course, Chace kept a secret from everyone: he was an abusive drunk. He couldn’t control himself when he drank and he drank a lot more than he should. It only took three months for Hayley to learn this and by then… she was in too deep. It was the Saved program that had finally drove them apart, with Hayley being Saved and Chace not. Left to deal with the wilderness on his own, he wasn’t equipped with the survival methods needed.
While he was organised and well put together, Chace was always a bit on the childish side. He felt the need to argue everything and always had to be right. On top of that, Chace would dwell on the past and hated anything that might have involved work. He wasn’t well equipped for the end of the world at all and often even annoyed people with his random outbursts and his temper tantrums. He had a hair trigger temper and always wanted the attention on him. He craved attention more than a five year old and often his business associates got annoyed by him.
It wasn’t hard to murder someone at the end of the world and make them look simply like a causality of the war. In fact, it was more than easy for Jacqueline Lovett to sneak in and slice his throat. After all, no one hurts anyone she cares about. It wasn’t like she planned on killing Chace with his letter opener… it just sort of happened. After she discovered that he was abusing Hayley… she couldn’t stand back anymore. The only person she told what happened to Chace was Lorraine Matthews… and she promised to take it to the grave.
Chace might not have a clue that Jacqueline killed him, but he knows that someone had committed murder in the Saved program. In fact, as far as he knows, he knows anyone has a motive to kill him the more he looks back on his life. He has many regrets, one of them being what happened with Hayley Thompson. He regrets that he hurt her and would love to fix things with her. Unfortunately, he doesn’t know how to fix things nor does he know if he should. After all, shouldn’t he at least let her have her life to live?

No special skills or talent, just vapid beauty. One would think that would be enough for the only Hampton sister to not have a serious passion. Well, at least she was pretty and rich. Leia was what every girl wanted to be: rich and pretty. Of course, they wouldn’t have wanted to be her if they knew how often she got compared to her sisters and how she never seemed to measure up. Silly little girl who no one wanted to even bother to Save. Pretty wasn’t enough to scrap her by.
No one would cry for the girl who didn’t have much going for her. No one would mourn a girl they barely knew anything about. To those who knew Leia, her death was a tragedy. She was smart (certainly nothing compared to Katherine) and beautiful, as well as a very talented dancer. Leia might have had it all, but she also was very humble. Tired applied to Leia often, often too sad to go on. The mark of clinical depression was applied to Leia and even in death, she’s proven that no one cared. Maybe it was what made it so hard on her: to know that she was simply one of the 6 billion deaths.
Leia Hampton very nearly made it… but as the fall out began to spread, so did radiation poisoning. Leia was the unlucky one to die from the disease caused by radiation. If she was honest, the worst part was honestly believing she escaped the atomic bomb. As her insides slowly rot away, her teeth fell out. She became violently ill and even was able to pull her own hair out. Leia was very vain and shut herself away from anyone who might be able to help… but also in part of fear of giving the disease to someone. Eventually, Leia died in her sleep, leaving her quite angry with her sisters for being Saved.
Six billion people died in a massive World War, leaving Leia as one of the few. Smarting from the stings of never being good enough and compared to everyone around her, maybe she figured growing a spine was a good thing. She was sick of hearing how she wasn’t good enough for anyone and is quick to fly into a rage. Rages happen and caused the realization ghosts can control their surroundings if angry enough. An angry ghost turns out to be Leia’s forte: brilliant at making everyone else scared.
